BMW CARDATA
What is telematics data?
The term telematics data refers to data that are generated in your vehicle and transferred via an installed SIM card to the BMW Server in order to provide networked services such as BMW ConnectedDrive or BMW Teleservices.
What is BMW CarData?
BMW CarData allows you to retain an overview of the basic telematics data that your vehicle sends to BMW as part of the BMW ConnectedDrive services that are then saved there.
If you want to know the current values for these telematics data, you can request a BMW CarData data archive at any time. You can also use BMW CarData to provide third parties with access to selected telematics data at any time.
A mouse click is all that is needed to provide data access for an authorised third party, to reject such a request or to revoke previously granted data access.
This means that only you choose which company will receive which telematics data. In addition, you can approve independent providers for certain services. You decide who provides these services. What are the costs of using BMW CarData?
The use of BMW CarData is free of charge.
What value does BMW CarData add?
BMW CarData provides you with the option to benefit from customised services provided by authorised third parties, based on the telematics data obtained from your vehicle.
You might benefit from this, for example when taking out an insurance policy for which the premiums are based on your actual mileage, thus saving you money. You also have the option to approve the above-mentioned services for provision by an independent provider. Further information is available on the ConnectedDrive customer portal. What requirements must I meet as a customer to be able to use BMW CarData?
Provided that your vehicle is telematics-enabled, you only need to allocate it to your customer account in the ConnectedDrive portal.
All important telematics data that were transferred to and stored on a BMW server from this time onwards are accessible to BMW CarData.Which data is collected from my vehicle? For which purpose?
Numerous electronic components in your vehicle contain memories that temporarily store information about the vehicle state and potential fault events.
These data are of a technical nature and serve to identify faults, to repair them and to optimise the vehicle functions. In order to provide BMW ConnectedDrive services some of the data stored in the vehicle are forwarded to the BMW server in the form of telematics data via the permanently installed SIM card.Who has access to this data?
BMW CarData allows you an easy way of obtaining insight into your principal telematics data and to control which authorised third parties should have access to your telematics data, and which independent providers can provide services to your vehicle.
BMW will always use your telematics data to substantiate, design the content of, or amend your ConnectedDrive contract and to invoice the ConnectedDrive services booked by you.
The number of persons receiving access to telematics data is limited according to the so-called „need to know“ principle and is regularly verified.
Where this is required to provide ConnectedDrive services, data may be forwarded to service providers tasked with the execution of the services or to independent providers, with your approval.
Data is only used by the service provider to render the services and is deleted once this task has been executed.
The telematics data will not be further forwarded to authorised third parties or independent providers. For which vehicles are BMW CarData services offered?
BMW CarData is available for all telematics-enabled BMW vehicles that have been allocated to a ConnectedDrive customer account and that have a built-in, activated SIM card. This depends on factors including:
- Country
- Vehicle series
- Vehicle type
- Vehicle model
For more detailed information, please contact customer support.
I drive a MINI. Why can I not make use of BMW CarData?
BMW CarData services are currently only offered for the BMW i and BMW M models of the BMW brand.
I want to use BMW CarData, but not BMW ConnectedDrive. Is this possible?
Unfortunately not, as BMW CarData is a service based on BMW ConnectedDrive. Using BMW CarData requires an active BMW ConnectedDrive contract. Such a contract should already exist if your vehicle already has teleservices. You do not need to add any additional BMW ConnectedDrive services to be able to use CarData.
How is the telematics data generated?
The data are usually generated in the vehicle, i.e. within the framework of using BMW ConnectedDrive services.BMW Servers can initiate additional generation of telematics data in the vehicle.
This option is only available to BMW through a secured telematics data link.
Third parties generally do not have this option. How is the decision made whether or when to transfer telematics data to the BMW server?
Depending on the use of ConnectedDrive services by the driver, the vehicle usually takes this decision itself.
Moreover, BMW can explicitly trigger the transfer of telematics data to BMW servers for rendering ConnectedDrive services.
Once your vehicle has transmitted telematics data to BMW, you can retrieve the currently saved telematics data for your BMW from the BMW CarData 'data archive'. If no data has been transmitted, no entries will be shown in the data archive. This may apply, for example, to older vehicles without active teleservices. How can I prevent the online transfer of telematics data?
The BMW ConnectedDrive basic services "Intelligent Emergency Call" and "Teleservices" can be deactivated by a BMW contract dealer or a BMW branch at any time at the customer's request.
This will also deactivate the SIM card with which the vehicle has been fitted, so that no data transfer from or to the vehicle will be possible.
However, this also means that the vehicle's emergency call function that transfers the vehicle position data to the BMW ConnectedDrive emergency call centre will not work.
For all other ConnectedDrive services, the rule is that no telematics data are transferred as long as the customer does not actively use the service. Can I access the telematics data for my vehicle? And if yes, how?
Direct access to the telematics data for your vehicle is not possible.
However, you have the option of requesting a BMW CarData data archive for your vehicle at any time of your choice via the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal.
The BMW CarData data archive contains the most important telematics data that your vehicle transfers to BMW servers, along with the last value saved on the BMW server. Is all telematics data that my vehicle has ever forwarded to BMW available via BMW CarData?
Not all telematics data can be retrieved via BMW CarData, as a lot of the telematics data are only used for ConnectedDrive services, such as the "Real Time Traffic Information" service, and are thus not stored on BMW servers or only in anonymised form.
Moreover, telematics data are only stored by BMW for a limited period and then deleted, once the statutorily specified period has expired.I would like to have an overview of all data that BMW has stored concerning my vehicle. Can I obtain this from the BMW CarData data archive?
The BMW CarData data archive is a service provided by BMW ConnectedDrive, which makes the principal telematics data available electronically.
Please contact the BMW ConnectedDrive hotline if you require any further information in this regard.I would only like certain values to be transferred to BMW from my vehicle? Can I influence this process?
For technical reasons, it is currently not possible selectively to activate or deactivate the transfer of individual telematics data.
Why are different time stamps displayed in the BMW CarData data archive for my telematics data?
Depending on the use of ConnectedDrive services by the driver, the vehicle will transfer certain telematics data to BMW. So it is possible that different time stamps are displayed in the BMW CarData data archive for different keys. The BMW CarData data archive always contains the most recent value transferred by the vehicle and the time stamp to indicate when this value was transferred.
The archive status of a BMW CarData data archive indicates that it is only available for downloading up to a certain date. However, it was possible to download it later. How can this be?
As a result of different time zones, it may happen that a data archive is available for a little longer or shorter than indicated.
What does the time of saving the values in the data archive indicate?
BMW makes use of the ISO Standard 8601 to show the date and time information. In addition to the date in the format DD.MM.YYYY (day (DD) month (MM) and year (YYYY)), the time is given in hh:mm:ss.ffff (hours (hh), minutes (mm), seconds (ss) and milliseconds (ffff)). An example of the data and time indications in the data archive: 24.05.2017 14:51:00.709.
How does BMW CarData notify me?
BMW CarData will regularly or directly inform you about certain processes and activities. If, for example, you request a BMW CarData archive, you will be notified as soon as the BMW CarData archive prepared is available for downloading.
Some notifications are mandatory, while others are optional.
BMW CarData thus provides you with the option of deactivating optional notifications.
You can select whether you wish to obtain the notifications by e-mail or via SMS by selecting this option in your general BMW ConnectedDrive settings.I have received a message to my vehicle to inform me that there are current releases? What does this mean?
This is just for your information.
BMW CarData regularly informs its customers about current data access for authorised third parties and approvals for independent service providers.
This will allow you maintain an overview of your releases and thus your data.
This could be the case, for example, if you did not authorise a data access, but have taken over the vehicle from a previous customer who did not properly remove the vehicle from the ConnectedDrive portal or did not deactivate existing data accesses.
Once you receive the notification, you can immediately take action in the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal.
As soon as you have created a ConnectedDrive customer account and have added your vehicle to this account, your vehicle will no longer forward telematics data to authorised third parties and services will no longer be provided by independent providers.
In addition, you can now make use of BMW CarData to manage data access for authorised third parties and approvals for independent service providers.I have switched off BMW CarData e-mail notifications in the portal. Nevertheless I have recently received an e-mail from BMW CarData. Why?
You can deactivate optional e-mail notifications, but some cannot be deactivated.
Thus, for example, we must notify you by e-mail for legal reasons if the General Terms and Conditions change. The list of my data access contains grey lines that cannot be edited and have the order status "deleted". What does this mean?
If a third party deletes a data package from the BMW CarData platform, for example because it is no longer in use, the associated line is shown in grey in the list. It is then no longer active and the data can no longer be called up by third parties.
Who does BMW pass on BMW CarData telematics data to for my vehicle as part of the services provided?
To a third party or independent provider authorised by you, who is known to BMW as a registered partner company.
The authorised third party or independent provider will contact you in advance, explaining the services offered and requesting your permission for data access, or approval for the rendition of services.
Only with your consent will the authorised third party receive access to your telematics data, and the independent provider be permitted to render services to your vehicle. How can I track when BMW has forwarded/released data and to whom?
BMW CarData provides you with the option of requesting a BMW CarData transaction report at any time.
This will show when BMW has forwarded which telematics data to third parties with your consent.
You will find information in this regard under BMW CarData on the ConnectedDrive portal.Which mechanisms are used to protect my data against abuse?
Telematics data transferred to BMW servers by your vehicle will be saved there in accordance with the latest state of technology.
Any transfer to third parties only takes place with your explicit prior consent and for a specific purpose, as stated by the third party and authorised by you.
No other transfer of your telematics data to third parties will take place. Is data forwarded to authorities, e.g. for the purposes of prosecution?
BMW only forwards telematics data to authorities when this is required by current statutory regulations.
How long is telematics data stored at BMW?
BMW only collects, stores and uses telematics data transferred to BMW servers within the scope of current statutory regulations.
Telematics data are only processed and used where this is required to substantiate, design the content or amend the contractual relationship (inventory data) and to make use of or invoice the various services (usage data).
Telematics data required for appropriate invoicing of services (invoicing data) may be stored and used by BMW after the usage period and until the invoice has been settled.
Certain data may also be stored for longer in anonymised form.Where exactly does BMW store the data transferred by telematics?
Telematics data for the European region are stored at BMW's own computer centres in Europe.
There are active data permissions and service approvals for my vehicle. What must I take into account when selling the vehicle?
We recommend that you carry out the „BMW CarData Reset“ function on the ConnectedDrive customer portal.
The BMW CarData Reset will reset all BMW CarData settings to their default state.
This will immediately and irrevocably delete all data permissions and service approvals for your vehicle, as well as all archive files.
Authorised third parties will no longer have access to your vehicle's telematics data, and independent providers will no longer be able to render services to your vehicle. Both will be informed of the reset.
You will find information in this regard under BMW CarData Reset on the ConnectedDrive portal.
Read more about this topic in the ConnectedDrive usage conditions. If I no longer wish to use BMW CarData, will BMW then automatically delete my vehicle data stored on BMW servers?
No.
If you no longer wish to use BMW CarData, you can carry out a BMW CarData reset on the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal.
This will reset all BMW CarData settings and delete all BMW CarData archives requested by you.
The telematics data required to render other BMW ConnectedDrive services will continue to be sent to BMW and stored if necessary.I no longer want my vehicle to send data to BMW. What do I have to do and whom should I contact?
You can completely deactivate the transfer of telematics data between your vehicle and BMW servers if you wish.
Technically speaking, this involves deactivating the SIM card installed in the vehicle, thus making it impossible to transfer telematics data from and to the vehicle.
If you deactivate the SIM card, the "Intelligent Emergency Call" and all other ConnectedDrive services will not work any more either.
Please contact your BMW partner to deactivate the SIM card.I would like my vehicle data that have been transferred to the BMW server by telematics to be fully deleted. How do I go about this?
Please contact the customer hotline, which will initiate the deletion on your behalf.
Is it legally permissible for BMW to know the location of my vehicle?
BMW collects, stores and uses personal data (such as the location) within the framework of statutory regulations, in as far as this is required to substantiate, design the content or amend the contractual relationship and to make use of the services as well as to invoice them.
Detailed information about processing personal or vehicle-related data for the individual services may be viewed in the service descriptions. Is location data collected and stored irrespective of any active use of the navigation system?
Yes.
BMW collects and stores vehicle positions in anonymised form to provide traffic flow services (Floating Car Data).
The FCD service is carried out to collect current information about road traffic on the existing navigation and ConnectedDrive platforms. Each ConnectedDrive-enabled vehicle constitutes a "mobile traffic reporter" (Floating Car).
The positional and sensor data collected while driving these vehicles are transferred to the BMW ConnectedDrive centre and the contractually stipulated traffic service provider together with the current time information.
The data are processed in completely anonymous form following their transfer. This is done free of charge.
Data transfer is also deactivated as soon as the SIM card installed in the vehicle is deactivated.
The traffic information service, including FCD can be deactivated by sending a written request to BMW Customer Services.
Does BMW create and store movement profiles?
No, BMW does not store any history of the routes travelled.
Will the data on the BMW servers be linked to my vehicle identification number and my name?
Data is always linked to the vehicle identification number of your vehicle and stored in order to render BMW ConnectedDrive services, but are not linked to your name.
In some cases it is possible to render the services on the basis of anonymised data, in which case they are not linked to your vehicle identification number.
The allocation of data to your name (or your user account) takes place within the scope of using personalised services, such as remote services.
In this case it is essential that you should add your vehicle to your customer account in the ConnectedDrive customer portal, therefore creating a link.
Can someone who knows my VIN make use of my vehicle data at BMW CarData and make them available to third parties?
No, such abuse is not possible.
Only a person who has connected his vehicle to his personal customer account via the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal is able to interact with BMW CarData.
Can data stored in the vehicle be retrieved online without the knowledge of the customer? How is the decision made whether or when to transfer data stored in the vehicle to the BMW server?
The transfer of information for the location and identification of vehicles only takes place as part of the active use of services by the customer, irrespective of whether the service request has been made manually or automatically, for example as an intelligent emergency call.
BMW can initiate the transfer of telematics data from the vehicle to the BMW server externally in order to render the ConnectedDrive services, for example to provide the loading state of a vehicle for the BMW Connected app.
What are third parties (within the context of BMW CarData)?
A third party is a company with its registered office in the EU.
This may be an insurance company, a SmartHome provider or a workshop that wants to provide you with appropriate services.
Third parties can potentially request the telematics data for your vehicle stored on BMW servers, but will only receive these data if you have explicitly authorised their access in advance.
How does the transfer of my data to third parties via BMW CarData work?
Telematics data are transmitted from the vehicle to a server operated by BMW using a secure connection on a private sub-network of a mobile service provider that is only accessible tor BMW vehicles.
This does not require the customer to have a private mobile phone, as communication takes place via a SIM card installed in the vehicle at the factory.
The transfer makes use of encoding procedures in accordance with the latest state of technology.
Third parties can only access the telematics data via the BMW server with your prior, explicit consent.
On which legal basis does BMW pass on telematics data to third parties via BMW CarData?
Telematics data are only forwarded to third parties via BMW CarData based on your consent.
I would like to find out more about the use of my telematics data by third parties. How can I do this?
Each time the telematics data for your vehicle are retrieved via BMW CarData, the third party has to state the purpose for which they are to be used.
If this description of purpose of use should be appear insufficient to you, we request that you contact the third party directly.
You will also find the third-party contact data together with the application for telematics data retrieval.
If I give a third party permission to access the telematics data for my vehicle, can I revoke my consent at a later stage?
Of course.
You can revoke any access consent granted at any time, quite simply at the click of a mouse.
Which of the telematics data stored on BMW servers will BMW pass on to third parties?
BMW provides telematics data to third parties as part of rendering the BMW ConnectedDrive services, in as far as this is required for rendering the ConnectedDrive services.
In addition to rendering BMW ConnectedDrive services, telematics data are only forwarded to third parties via BMW CarData.
This always only takes place at the explicit request of a third party and always only with your clear consent.
The list of telematics data that can be potentially transmitted to third parties via BMW CarData may be taken from the telematics data catalogue.
Does BMW monitor what third parties do with my BMW CarData?
Unfortunately BMW has no influence on this.
In the event of any questions, please contact the third party directly.
How long will the BMW CarData information be stored by third parties?
BMW has no influence on the length of time for which third parties store telematics data received via BMW CarData.
In the event of any questions in this regard, please contact the third party.
You will find contact data for the third parties in their access requests on the ConnectedDrive customer portal.
I cannot reach the authorised third party's or independent provider’s customer support via the contact details provided. What can I do?
BMW does not have access to the contact information provided by authorised third parties or independent providers.
If in doubt, you can revoke data permissions or service approvals from the authorised third party or independent provider at any time.
Will it be impossible for third parties to transmit my BMW CarData information without my knowledge?
BMW does not have any influence over what third parties do with the telematics data.
If BMW should find that the telematics data have been used for a purpose other than that authorised by you, this would constitute a breach of the BMW CarData General Terms and Conditions.
In this event BMW reserves the right to block the third party from receiving BMW CarData services.
How do I prevent third parties from fraudulently making use of the data I have released via BMW CarData?
You will authorise any transfer of the telematics data to a third party via BMW CarData for a specific purpose.
This purpose must be stated by the third party when sending you a request for access.
If you (or we) should find that the third party is not using the telematics data for the defined purpose, this constitutes abuse.
BMW will become active in this case and may prevent further use of the BMW CarData services by the third party.
I have received a request for data access from a third party. How do I find out for which purpose my data are to be used?
The purpose for which the requested telematics data are to be used must be formulated by the third party and can be viewed by you as part of your data request on the ConnectedDrive customer portal.
If this description of purpose of use should be appear insufficient to you, we request that you contact the third party directly.
You will find the necessary contact data in the application.
I have received the application by a third party for release of my vehicle data, but only wish to release some of the data for use. Is this possible?
A third party will normally request exactly the telematics data required to render a certain service.
If you restrict these telematics data, it may not be possible for the third party to render this service.
To prevent unnecessary complications, you can thus only fully approve or reject the requested telematics data set.
I am receiving unsolicited requests from a third party for the release of data from my vehicle. I do not know this third party. I do not wish to forward any vehicle data to this third party. What should I do?
It is possible that the third party has used BMW CarData for a purpose for which it was not intended. Please contact our Support directly.
I would like to release telematics data for my vehicle to a workshop selected by me, so that it can offer me a specific service. What do I have to do?
To be able to use BMW CarData, third parties (such as your workshop) need to make use of BMW CarData.
This requires a technical system link to BMW CarData.
As soon as this has been installed, third parties can request release of your telematics data.
The portal for third parties explains in detail how this works.
Please direct your workshop to the following portal: https://aos.bmwgroup.com/
Will the telematics data to third parties be forwarded via my smartphone?
No.
The transfer of telematics data will only take place from the SIM card installed in the vehicle to the BMW server.
The data will then be forwarded to authorised third parties from the BMW servers at your request.
Why do I receive BMW CarData notifications via email and SMS later than a BMWInfo notification sent to the vehicle?
BMW CarData notifications via email and SMS are purposely only sent between 08:00 and 22:00. In contrast, BMWInfo notifications are sent directly to the vehicle without a time delay. Unfortunately we are unable to change the dispatch period.
Does telematics data exist for my car which is not included in the BMW CarData data archive and also not available on the BMW CarData API to third parties?
Yes. The following data which under certain circumstances may have been transferred are not available: Data transferred anonymised from the vehicle to BMW servers as a part of providing BMW ConnectedDrive services (e.g. data for RTTI), technical parameters for internal quality assurance (e.g. Diag codes), internal technical parameters for problem analyses in the event of customer complaints as well as data which are classified as being not public, protected, intellectual property of the BMW Group.
Where do I find the telematics data catalogue?
The telematics data catalogue is included in the data archive which you can download via the “Request data archive” function.
What does the status “Expiring soon” mean in my data permissions and service approvals?
Usually, when you grant data permissions and service approvals to authorised third parties and independent providers, they are valid for an unlimited amount of time until they are withdrawn. BMW CarData will inform you periodically which data permissions and service approvals exist for your vehicle. However, some vehicles are not equipped to display customer notifications directly in the vehicle. In this case, you must review and confirm service approvals at regular intervals. You will be notified in good time before your data permissions and service approvals expire, so that you can renew them if required.
Why can’t I find driver profiles in the BMW CarData archive?
Exported driver profiles are binary-coded data that is encrypted in a proprietary, protected format for security reasons. The profiles contain only the settings that are visible in the vehicle for the respective driver. This binary-coded data is not part of the BMW CarData archive.
Are incidents, such as the Automatic Teleservice Call, also transferred to authorised third parties or independent providers?
Based on your consent and the service’s respective availability in the country in question, BMW shall forward the information regarding the incident’s occurrence to the authorised third party or independent provider.
If the incident is an emergency call that has been made, BMW shall only inform the authorised third party or independent provider of the event if the Smart Emergency Call feature has been used. If an independent provider is approved as your service partner, this provider can render these service and guide you through the incident. The statutory EU eCall is routed directly to the state emergency call control centre and is not available via BMW CarData.
Why can services be approved, along with telematics data, in BMW CarData?
EU Regulation 2018/858 permits independent economic agents, who directly or indirectly operate in vehicle maintenance and repair (not including contracting workshops or dealers), to provide connected RMI services (e.g. breakdown assistance) for the brands of the BMW Group. Your consent is required as a prerequisite for this provision, and can be granted on the customer portal.
Who can render services to my vehicle?
Services can be rendered to your vehicle by independent providers, who are directly or indirectly involved in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
Which services can be rendered by independent providers?
The following services can be rendered by independent providers:
- Service partner services (e.g. automatic teleservice calls for required services)
- Breakdown assistance
- Accident assistance
- Access to electronic service history
- Access to repair history
A detailed description of these services is available in the General Terms and Conditions of Use for BMW ConnectedDrive services.
Will I incur additional costs if I grant service approvals?
No, the administration of service approvals in BMW CarData is free of charge. For costs associated with the provision of services by an independent provider, please contact the provider directly.
How long are service approvals valid?
Service approvals are typically valid indefinitely until they are revoked by you. We will inform you about existing service approvals periodically via the MyInfo function in the vehicle. However, some vehicles are not equipped with the MyInfo function directly in the vehicle. In this case, you must review and confirm service approvals at regular intervals. You will be notified in good time before your service approvals expire, so that you can renew them if required.
Can multiple independent providers be approved to render the same service?
Only one independent provider or BMW service partner can be assigned to render a service.
Why can't I approve any services for my vehicle?
It is possible that your vehicle does not have the necessary equipment features. To approve services, the vehicle must be telematics-enabled and equipped with booking of “Teleservices” as standard. There are also additional factors, such as:
- Country
- Series
- Vehicle type
- Vehicle model
I have received a request for service approval. Where can I find further information about it?
The purpose of the request for service approval is described by the independent provider. This can be found on the ConnectedDrive customer portal in the CarData data permissions and service approvals section within the scope of the service request.
If the description of purpose is insufficient, we request that you contact the independent provider directly. You will find the necessary contact details in the request.
What happens if I revoke a service approval? Who provides the service then?
The BMW call centres are automatically entered for accident and breakdown assistance. A default BMW dealer is entered for other services (Teleservice call). You can change the BMW dealer assigned as your preferred service partner at any time on the customer portal, on the ConnectedDrive app or in the vehicle. The independent provider will no longer have access to your vehicle data and will no longer provide the respective services.
Can I approve a declined service approval request at a later time?
No, once a service approval request is declined, it is declined permanently and cannot be approved at a later time. However, it is possible for the independent provider to send you a new request.
I have approved a service from an independent provider. Can/will BMW continue to provide the same service?
Vehicle data and data access via the vehicle can only be accessed by the selected independent provider. However, regardless of the vehicle generation, BMW may be selected as the partner/contact for accident/breakdown assistance.
The list of my service approvals contains grey lines that cannot be edited with the status “retracted“. What does this mean?
If an independent provider retracts a request for service approval, the corresponding line in the list of service approvals is greyed out. This means it is no longer active. The independent provider will no longer have access to your vehicle data and will no longer provide the respective services. The BMW call centres are automatically entered for accident and breakdown assistance. A default BMW dealer is entered for other services (Teleservice call). You can change the BMW dealer assigned as your preferred service partner at any time on the customer portal, on the ConnectedDrive app or in the vehicle.
If I give an independent provider permission to render services to my vehicle, can I revoke my consent at a later stage?
Yes, you can revoke your consent for an independent provider to render services to your vehicle at any time in a few clicks („BMW ConnectedDrive“ > „BMW CarData“ > „Data permissions and service approvals“ > „Service approvals“).
I have received requests for service approvals from independent providers I cannot identify. I do not want to approve services for these independent providers. What should I do?
Decline any requests from unknown providers. This may be misconduct on the part of the provider. In the event of any suspicious requests, please contact our customer support directly.
What happens if an independent provider cannot connect a voice call to my vehicle in the event of an accident or breakdown?
Depending on network availability (depends on mobile network provider), the voice call function may be unavailable. In this case, your provider will call you directly.
How can independent providers render services via BMW CarData?
With your consent, independent providers can access the required vehicle data and voice call connections electronically. These are provided via the BMW server. If you revoke your consent, vehicle data and voice calls can no longer be accessed by independent providers.
How can I see which services were rendered by independent providers?
This information can be found in the BMW CarData transaction report („BMW ConnectedDrive“ > „BMW CarData > „BMW CarData transaction report“ > „Request BMW CarData transaction report“ > „Download transaction report“).
